MMaître

Terms

This is the agreement between Maître and a venue that uses it. It is written to be read once, by the person who signs it, without a lawyer in the room.

Last updated 13 October 2026

01Who this is between

"We" is Maître. "You" is the café, restaurant or group that subscribes, and anyone you give a staff account to. By using Maître you accept these terms on behalf of that business.

To be completed before the first paying customer: the registered company name, company number, registered address and governing law belong in this section. Those are commercial facts about the entity, not something software should assume.

02What Maître does

Maître gives your guests a chat they reach by scanning a code at the table. It reads your menu to them in their language, takes their order, puts the ticket on your kitchen pass, and gives you a console for your menu, stock, bookings and sales.

It is software. It does not cook, serve, or decide what is safe for someone to eat.

03The free trial

  • Fourteen days, with every feature switched on, so you are judging the real thing rather than a cut-down version.
  • No card is required to start it.
  • At the end of fourteen days the trial stops. It does not roll into a paid subscription on its own and you will not be charged for a trial you did not convert.
  • If you do not subscribe, your data stays available to export for 30 days and is then deleted.

04What you pay

  • One subscription per venue, charged monthly in advance, at the price shown on the pricing page for your market on the day you subscribe.
  • We take no percentage of any bill, ever. What your guests pay is yours.
  • Tax is added where the law requires it, and our invoice carries your own tax number where you give us one.
  • Billing runs through a merchant of record, which means the tax on our invoice is registered and paid in your country.
  • If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you may cancel instead.

05Money between you and your guests

Maître never sits between you and your guests' money. Payment is taken by you, through your own terminal, wallet or cash drawer. We hold no float, take no cut, and have no access to your account. Settlement, refunds, chargebacks and the tax on your own bills are yours.

06Allergies, and the limit of what software can promise

Maître records what a guest tells it about allergies and intolerances and puts it on the ticket where the kitchen can see it. That is a genuine improvement on a waiter remembering it across a busy floor, and it is not a food-safety system.

You remain responsible for food safety. Your kitchen must verify every allergen against your own ingredients and handling before serving. The agent can be wrong, a menu can be out of date, a guest can describe something imprecisely, and a dish can be contaminated in a way no software can see. Do not use Maître as your only allergen control, and do not tell a guest a dish is safe on the strength of the ticket alone.

You are also responsible for keeping your menu, prices and ingredient lists accurate in the console. Maître answers from what you put in it.

07The agent gets things wrong

Maître is built on a large language model. It is good, and it is not infallible. It can misread an unusual request, translate a dish awkwardly, or answer a question about your venue that you would have answered differently. Anything that costs money or changes a booking is put in front of a human for approval rather than decided alone, and you can tighten that further in the console.

08Your accounts

  • Staff accounts are created by you. You are responsible for who has one and for what they do with it.
  • Tell us promptly if an account is compromised.
  • Do not use Maître to break the law, to send people things they did not ask for, or to attack the service or anybody on it.
  • Do not resell Maître or give access to it to a business that is not yours without asking us first.

09Who owns what

Your menu, your prices, your orders, your guests' data and your trading history are yours. We hold them to run the service for you and we do not use one venue's data to benefit another. You can export them at any time and we will help if the export is awkward.

The software itself, the agent, the console and the Maître name stay ours.

10Uptime, and what we will actually promise

We work hard to keep Maître up during service, because a café mid-rush is not a forgiving place for an outage. We are not promising a contractual uptime percentage at this stage, and we would rather say so plainly than publish a number we have not yet earned the operating history to stand behind. Maintenance that we can schedule, we schedule outside service hours.

Your floor must be able to run without us. Keep a way to take an order on paper.

11Liability

Neither side limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Beyond that, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for lost profit, lost business or indirect loss. Given what the subscription costs, that limit is the honest description of what a software subscription can underwrite — which is also why section 6 matters.

12Ending it

  • You can cancel at the end of any month, from the console or by writing to us. We do not ask why and there is no notice period beyond the month you are in.
  • We do not refund part-months, and we do not bill you again after you cancel.
  • We can suspend or end an account that is being used to break the law or to damage the service, and we will tell you why.
  • After an account ends, your data stays available to export for 30 days and is then deleted.

13Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not want the change, cancel before it applies. This version is dated 13 October 2026.
